| The European Baton Twirling Championships took place in Illkirch Graffenstaden, France on 5-7 July 2002. Six athletes representing Scotland competed with 11 other countries. In the junior women freestyle event, Laura Petrie and Alana Dardas from Fife acheived 33rd and 21st place. The senior women, Jo-Ann Robertson from Ayrshire, Lauren Smith from Fife, Keli Lyttle from North Lanarkshire and Gemma Mollins from Fife acheived 8th, 24th, 27th, and 33rd place. Alana and Laureen also competed in the senior pair and were awarded 5th place. The results achieved by these athletes, placed Scotland 8th in Europe.
